The New 2022 “Neighborhood Occupantless Electric Vehicles” Law in Arizona

Arizona now has a a set of laws that allow electric vehicles that are NOT designed, intended or marketed for human occupancy to drive on public roads. (NOEV’s) Neighborhood Ocupantless Electric Vehicles.

  • They may operate on highways with speed limits of 45 mph or less.
  • They may cross highways with speed limits of more than 45 mph at intersections.
  • They may not operate, stop or park in bicycle lanes.
  • They may not transport hazardous materials.
