What is the state of auto insurance in 2022, part 2?

More miles means more accidents

Defensive Driving

  •  After reduced travel in 2020 due to the
    COVID-19 pandemic, people are starting
to hit the road again — leading to more
    accidents and more insurance claims.
  • The Federal Highway Administration shows
that vehicle miles traveled in the first half
of 2021 increased by 173.1 billion miles or
about 13% over the same period in 2020.
  • Traffic fatalities in the first half of 2021 were
up 18% over 2020. Additionally, there was
an increase in speeding over pre-pandemic
    times. More recklessness and more
    accidents equal more insurance claims.
