Red Light and Speeding Cameras to resume on Friday the thirteenth

Scottsdale’s photo enforcement program is scheduled to return on Friday.

According to the city, American Traffic Solutions, the company that operates the cameras, received its private investigation business license to comply with the recent official legal opinion from state Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

The city’s photo enforcement was put on hold while ATS worked to get its license. Now that they have, Scottsdale’s photo enforcement program will resume issuing citations starting on Friday, May 13.

Scottsdale said the system is being tested right now, and drivers may see camera flashes, but no citations will be processed or issued until Friday.

Last March, Brnovich stated third party contractors who operate radar and red light cameras must get a private investigator license, or they can’t do business in the state.

The City of Scottsdale has had a photo enforcement program since 1996. The system includes 18 fixed cameras at intersections and along city streets, two mobile speed-enforcement vans and two portable towers that are only in school zones.
