It’s a red-letter day for car theft news! The National Insurance Crime Bureau just released its annual “Hot Wheels” report chronicling the nation’s most popular stolen vehicles. What does that mean for car insurance? Buckle in.

Using data from our 2019 State of Auto Insurance Report, we looked at what it would cost to insure any of the top 10 most stolen vehicles in the last year.

Even though car thefts are down 3% from last year (and down 55% since their peak in 1991) it’s always a good idea to make sure your insurance policy covers car theft. Also, make sure you’re taking all the necessary precautions (such as the NCIB’s “Layers of Protection” approach) to keep your vehicle safe from thieves.
